Re: For the first time - bilic was my biggest concern yesterday
We've had a very tough start, including two away games to teams with title winning aspirations.

We have our entire first choice attack injured.

Let's just calm down a little bit. It's a long season and there is a long way to go.

Re: For the first time - bilic was my biggest concern yesterday
Deserves all the criticism he is getting. They even made the point on MOTD that the way he is setting us up is hindering us.

How many times does he need to see Antonio at RB is a liability and how many times is he going to start Valencia who does nothing and is subbed before he realises it simply doesn't work? He knows it doesn't work and this is highlighted even more when he puts Antonio further upfield and subs Valencia and suddenly the team start playing a lot better.
Next game he goes back to Antonio at RB with Valencia starting.

Plain idiocy.

It's like the Nolan situation with BFS. Everyone can see it but the manager.

At least we can all agree that the next two games are must win, no excuses acceptable 6 pointers against our close rivals for 10th /12th place.

Some of our fans are such fucking cunts. Criticising Bilic is fine. Wanting him replaced is fucking insanity.

It's almost as if he knows the best formation as well as any of us but is not playing it as part of some kind of tactic until all players key to a plan are available and fit...

Re: For the first time - bilic was my biggest concern yesterday
Bilic is a good manager. Just seen a few questionable things early this season.

Seen Kouyate in the hole behind the striker and look lost and non existent. We've seen Carroll drop in at left back for a period during a game. Obiang as an attackng midfielder. Antonio at RB even when he stated he doesn't want to play there. Antonio and Tore on the opposite flanks to begin a game. Collins thrown on ws a striker.

Now I know injuries and squad rotation to handle the schedule has played a big part in a lot of this and Im all for trying the odd thing in friendlies or in games you're clearly in control of or if there's nothing to lose but instead it appears from the outside to be thought of as a good idea without being pht into practice beforehand and certainly persisted with longer than necessary IMO.

Still hopefup we' e learned a few limitations and can improve from it going forwards.

Re: For the first time - bilic was my biggest concern yesterday
Bilic is showing himself to be somewhat blinkered and boneheaded. He decided on a certain method which has recently been based around incorporating Tore and Valencia, and therefore putting Antonio at RB. We got away with it against Bournemouth only after he put Antonio and Tore in their more natural positions.
He's got to be honest with himself and realise he's made a ricket with Tore, as he's clearly not up to standard for the PL, and he must stop this obsession of converting Antonio to a full back. The lad clearly has no positional or covering sense at the back, and as I've said before, playing him at there is a double jeopardy for us. We lose his offensive wing play and goals, but are practically guaranteed to ship more goals. So it's a lose, lose situation, and it must stop.

Re: For the first time - bilic was my biggest concern yesterday
Looks to me like bilic is experimenting with the back 3 concept to make use of all these wingers we have acquired and provide the most attacking threat. i never really get the one up top formation either as that is really only effective with sakho who chases down all lose ends. I think bilic has shown a lack of experience especially with the injury situation in place and the demand for attacking and exciting football. Whats cost us most is not getting a decent striker before the season started. I think bilic will do well, he has already given into the antonio at RB saga, and is learning his trade

Re: For the first time - bilic was my biggest concern yesterday
Our start has been more of the WHU we were used to before Bilic. Perhaps we're reverting to type. Still as the season wears on and the new players bed in we'll be well prepared for the return games with Chelsea and Man City.

Re: For the first time - bilic was my biggest concern yesterday
Didn't work against Arsenal, Man City or Southampton.

I think we need to accept so far this squad isn't close to making it work defensively. We conceeded two today, two against Arsenal and one against Southampton with it.

Plus any system which exposes Collins to space where attacking players can run at him with pace and square him up is a recipe for disaster.

Worked against Tottenham.

Just needs better players, which are not currently available to us. Plus Valencia and Tore means we're a player and a half down. Entirely different situation after this break.. Stop going overboard.

Its not a new system though. He's tried it a few times now and its failed misreably everytime. Not by a little bit, by a lot.

if he was too stubborn he wouldn't have accepted in the interview after the game that the set up in the first half didn't work. Also he wouldn't have changed the formation at half time. He tried a new system out, it clearly didn't work so he changed it.

This won't be the last time Antonio at right back,Bilic has stated that already and he has shown to be too stubborn to change his mind.

Deano, City are going to be able to do that to most full strength teams, let alone ones with half a squad missing.

I don't like him playing Antonio at RB, but these Bilic threads are actually a bit of an embarrassment to be honest.

BBC Sport: "City look very happy to see this out to half-time by making West Ham chase the ball. It is a bit like shining a torch on the wall and getting a kitten to dart after it."

Sums up our line up & tactics today...what are we even playing? somewhere between 3-4-3 & 6-3-1? With 5-4-1 chucked in from time to time?
